Mould on clothes is a quite common problem especially when one lives in a badly insulated house with moisture seepages or when clothes are stored in the basement. These are the main causes of mould traces on clothes in the wardrobe or inside a box.
Moulds appear mostly on fabrics of vegetal origin, such as cotton, linen, hemp, etc.
They are multicellular fungi that stick to fibres in conditions of humidity. These organisms slowly seep into the fibres and it becomes difficult to eliminate them.
To remove mould stains it is necessary to act both on the “coloured” part and by hygienising the fabric. To eliminate this type of stains, people usually resort to oxidants, but on old, coloured or very precious fabrics it is necessary to be extremely careful not to damage fibres and colours. Therefore it is advisable to use an effective oxidant product that is also delicate on fibres and colours.
Tintolav’s R&D department has developed effective products and solutions to eliminate mould stains without damaging fabrics and fibres.
